Different throwing and lifting exercises have been devised to improve the flexibility and strength of the shoulders, arms, hips, or legs. A medicine ball offers extra resistance to movements usually performed explosively with a pre-stretching phase. As with weight training, the exercises are usually done in sets and repetitions, the number of which will differ for each individual. A typical session for one exercise in which the ball is thrown from a standing position, would consist of five sets of 10 repetitions with one minute rest between each set.
